Jackie Brenston CHESS
1458 "Rocket 88" Yes, Virginia, There really is a real
authentic 1950's pressing of what most historians refer to as THE
FIRST ROCK AND ROLL RECORD. For many years it was thought that only
78's were pressed of this 1950 release. There have been several
Bootleg (and /or Counterfeit) 45's pressed since the 1970's as well
as a couple legitimate Chess releases on 45 in the 70's & 80's.
This 45 pictured was pressed sometime in 1955, five years after
the original issue of the 78. It (and the 5 others I know to exist)
was pressed at Monarch Pressing plant in Los Angeles. Why? No one
knows why; but the fact is they did, and because they did, a big
rarity with unending demand was created. I know of a total of three
Mint copies (including this one), one that is VG+ and two that are
VG or less. All known copies made in Los Angeles in 1955. A true
Rock & Roll Museum Piece!! MINT |
